Annemarie Franscoli(Switzerland)
I still remember the way I used to go everyday to my atelier in Mino.
The way led from the house of the familiy of the priest, who hosted me, along the Buddha Temple, through fields of rice, passed a sanctuary of Shinto, went along the river and finally crossed the bridge painted in red to arrive in the centre of Mino with its wonderful wooden houses. An exemplary place for Japan.
Having been an artist in residence in Mino has been unforgettable to me and has influenced my artistic work extraordinarily

Mino for me is first of all “people”. Pleasant, kind, open hearted, patient people.
Surrounded by trees and sound of water, it was a dream. Mino is small and very precious and every day that passed was one and unique. Mino gave me an essential ground to start from, a very dear family that shared their home with me, a place of my own in a studio, and three month spending with the one material I love the most – Paper.
Paper was all around, and paper was the King.
Marlon Nicholas Griffith(Trinidad & Tobago)
I have continued my relationship with this place and the people. My fondest memories of Mino would always be my late works. This would become the inspiration for my and developed interest in many ideas I had for a very long time and stays with me today.

On the wall in my living room is a unique huge piece of paper made by hand in Mino 2005. Even though there is nothing written on it , it keeps a lot of very good memories.
All the beautiful paper , caring and lovley people, a good food and a very good organized program. I was very lucky to get the opportunity to stay in Mino the year 2005 and I hope I can vistit it again some day.
